David Castillo Gallery is pleased to present Gallery Projects, a group show involving all the artists represented by the gallery: Andrew Guenther, Aramis Gutierrez, Quisqueya Henriquez, Pepe Mar, Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova, Frances Trombly, and Wendy Wischer.
Quisqueya Henriquez confronts cultural infrastructures and our experiences within them. Using imagery that harkens to utopias and distopias, future and mythology, reality and propaganda, Guenther creates worlds and characters with unassuming socio-political volition.
Andrew Guenther, Aramis Gutierrez, and Pepe Mar draw from the personal and the imagined, configuring characters and scenarios ranging from the grotesque to the whimsical.
Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova, Frances Trombly, and Wendy Wischer ask the viewer to recognize beauty and form in utilitarian objects and simple displays with almost spiritual intensity. Their striking exercises in seeing connotate larger socio-political themes.
