George Sánchez-Calderón: After Dürer

After Dürer is a sculptural installation by Miami-based artist George Sánchez-Calderón. First created in 2006, the piece culminates over a decade-long process, bringing together distinct memories and histories of the city that together weave a portrait of Miami as it once was.

 

George Sánchez-Calderón is based in Miami, FL. He earned his MFA in Painting and Printmaking from The Rhode Island School of Design and his BFA in Painting from Florida International University. His work is held in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami; Perez Art Museum, Miami; and the de la Cruz Museum, Miami, among others. His work has been exhibited at the Bass Museum of Art, Miami Beach; Locust Projects, Miami; Exit Art, New York; and the Deering Estate, Miami, among many others. He is an awardee of the South Florida Cultural Consortium and a former fellow of the CINTAS Foundation.
